About Ruth Kingoo

Ruth’s compassion and desire to help other people developed into a nursing career when she answered the clarion call as a Certified and Licensed Practical Nurse in 2008. Early in her career, Ruth worked with Alzheimer’s and Dementia clients at various Assisted Living facilities in Montgomery and Frederick Counties in Maryland.

In 2014, Ruth graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Howard University. As a Registered Nurse, Ruth continued her passion to providing quality healthcare as a team member in an outpatient setting before joining Frederick Health in 2015. Ruth collaborated with different healthcare providers to improve the standard of care and patient outcomes. At Frederick Health, Ruth built a reputation as an effective communicator in a diverse workplace working towards inclusion and cultural awareness. In her leadership role as Vice-President of the Patient Education and Patient Satisfaction Council, she advocated for improved quality care for patients transitioning from hospital admission to outpatient care.

In her relentless pursuit of personal growth and optimum patient care, Ruth pursued a Master of Science Degree in Nursing from Walden University and graduated in 2019. Before joining Orthopedic and Wellness in 2021, Ruth worked as a Nurse Practitioner for three years in women’s health, family practice, public health, obesity management, cardiac care, surgical care, and pain management. In her patient-centered practice, she strives to provide holistic and individualized care to optimize her patient’s experiences and outcomes. She is known for combing her passion with humor as she interacts with her patients and colleagues.

Ruth was the recipient of the Dr. Coralease Ruff Award (2014) for her display of exemplary compassion to her patients at Howard University Hospital. In 2002, Ruth was recognized with the Susan McKenzie Award for her display of courage, determination, sense of humor, and positive outlook on life. Ruth enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies include yoga, scrapbooking, biking, swimming, yoga, reading, hiking, interior design, traveling, and learning new languages. She speaks Swahili fluently and enjoys learning American Sign Language and Spanish.
