Orthopedic & Wellness is currently searching for a qualified, energetic and experienced Medical Assistant to support our fast paced Waldorf, MD practice. Knowledge on Ambulatory Surgery Center protocols is a plus. Candidate must have excellent work ethics, very good computer skills, customer service skills, and be a team player with a positive attitude, integrity and honesty. Be ready for a lot of multi-tasking.

  • Must have a High School diploma or GED certificate
  • Must be certified nursing assistant or medical assistant training (may or may not be required depending on circumstances)
  • Must be CPR certified
  • Must demonstrate leadership qualities 
  • Have strong ethical and moral character references
  • Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English is required
  • Patient care technician experience or CNA license
  • Must have ASC experience
  • Must have Fluoroscopy safety training
  • Must demonstrate basic office skills, as well as the aptitude to learn new software technology for patient registration, records, dictation, and transcriptions
  • Excellent patient care skills, the ability to take vital signs, knowledge of health care and medical terminology, and awareness of the legal implications of work and words in healthcare are also required
  • Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA regulations
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
  • Must have satisfactory background check inclusive of driving, criminal, employment reference, education, and social security

Circulating RN

LOCATION: FREDERICK MARYLAND

 

FT Circulating RN position available immediately at surgery center in Frederick, MD. Experience in pain management is a plus. Knowledge on OSHA, Quality Assurance, and ASC regulations and protocols.

 

Duties will include general RN tasks:

  • Monitor the procedures in operating rooms during surgery and other surgical procedures.
  • Assists by acting as an intermediary between the operating room staff and the rest of the facility.
 

Responsibilities of the circulating nurse include:

  • Ensures that the surgical room is sterile and safe for the patient.
  • Works side by side with circulating nurse to help maintain the sterile field in the operating room.
  • Prepares the patient for the procedure and handles the preparation for the operating room before the surgery takes place.
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and physical stamina.
  • Assesses the patient’s condition before a surgical procedure.
  • Assesses the needs of the patient during the procedure, to ensure the best outcome.
  • Works with a physician to develop the care plan for the patient during the surgery
  • Continues to evaluate the patient’s condition during the procedure and makes changes to the care plan as necessary
  • Ensures that the sterile field is not compromised during the procedure
  • Keeps the surgical area clean and organized for the scrub nurse and the physician; removes instruments and sponges as they are used during the procedure

Instrument Processing Technician

LOCATION: FREDERICK MARYLAND

 

We need someone with the ability to operate all sterilization and processing equipment, to prioritize and organize, and to work independently without constant supervision.

 

Education: High School diploma or GED certificate

 

Licenses / Certifications: Training and courses in sterile technique, sterile processing certification

 

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English language
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to lift and/or maneuver supplies and equipment in conjunction with others in order to perform job functions
  • Ability to perform basic computer skills
  • Ability to think critically and apply problem-solving skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Be able to work in a team environment
 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains a clean and orderly central processing areas (e.g., shelves, counters, equipment)
  • Adheres to sterilization process policies and procedures, cleans each item according to manufacturer’s instructions, inspects instruments under microscope for damage and defects, lubricates instruments as required, determines whether each item is in good working conditions
  • Sorts and arranges items into proper trays according to established policy and procedures, accurately labels each item with name and expiration date, checks equipment indicators for proper functioning
  • Correctly operates sterilizers, ultrasonic washer, and other processing equipment (i.e., positions items correctly in sterilizer, selects proper cycle, seeks assistance when needed)
  • Performs requires biological/chemical monitoring tests on all sterilizers and maintains logs according to established policies and procedures
  • Maintains availability of recording supplies for continuity of recording throughout sterilization process, maintains inventory levels and accurate records, performs weekly inspections of all sterile items in facility, checks for outdated items and package integrity of wrapped sterilized items, replaces items as necessary, places items in correct location, maintains adequate inventory of supplies for the sterile processing area
  • Maintains and updates the instrument tray inventory list, accurately documents count of instruments loaned and returned to outside sources
  • Other duties as assigned

Surgical Scrub Technician

 

Seeking experienced Surgical Scrub Technician to utilize surgical knowledge and training in an aseptic environment. Under the supervision of the Governing body, function as a member of the surgical team to provide quality medical care.

 

Education: High School diploma or GED certificate

 

Licenses / Certifications: Completion of surgical scrub technician course. Surgical scrub technician certification preferred

 

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Two years’ operating room experience
  • Leadership qualities
  • Strong ethical and moral character references
  • Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs specified functions to meet the requirement of each approved procedure, assembles supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures according to physicians’ preference
  • Inspects equipment for proper working condition, follows principles of aseptic technique and prescribed operating/procedure room  procedures
  • Adheres to aseptic technique when opening sterile packages and preparing for the procedure, arranges instruments according to given procedure, confirms that instruments work properly, maintains availability of instruments and supplies to avoid delays
  • Reports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and takes action according to policies and procedures, correctly uses, cares for, cleans, and sterilizes instruments, supplies, and equipments as directed, handles equipment and instruments correctly to provide appropriate availability and safety, assists in storing and stocking supplies as directed
  • Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician, documents patient-care records and other forms according to facility policies and procedures, accurately advises others responsible for care of the patient about the patient’s status
  • Other duties as assigned
